Ultra-High Dirt Holding Capacity
with Disposable Design
The SFT/H-DC Series Activated Carbon Depth Disc Filter is constructed from a
composite blend of high-quality activated carbon, cellulose, and positively
charged resin. It is used to deal with filtration of small batch fluid, such as gas,
air, mobile phase, sample injection, etc. This filter is well-suited for decolorization
applications across the fine chemical, biopharmaceutical, and food industries.
Additionally, it provides reliable endotoxin removal, making it a critical solution
for biopharmaceutical processes where purity and safety are paramount.

What is the SFH/-DC Activated Carbon Depth Disc Filter mainly used for?
The SFH/-DC Series is designed for combined depth filtration and adsorption in applications where clarification, decolorization, odor removal, or reduction of selected dissolved contaminants is required. Typical applications include wine and juice decolorization, amino acid processing, pharmaceutical intermediate purification, API solution treatment, biological clarification, and laboratory-scale purification.
How does the activated carbon depth disc filter work?
The filter combines cellulose, diatomite, activated carbon, and synthetic resin in a three-dimensional depth filtration structure. Suspended particles are retained within the depth media, while activated carbon provides additional adsorption of color bodies, odors, organic impurities, and other adsorbable contaminants. This allows particle filtration and adsorption to be performed in one filtration stage.
How do I choose the right filtration rating for the SFH/-DC Series?
The correct rating depends on feed turbidity, particle size distribution, contaminant loading, required filtrate clarity, adsorption objective, flow rate, and downstream process requirements. Available ratings include 0.5–0.8 μm, 3.0–6.0 μm, and 6.0–15 μm. Finer grades provide tighter particle retention, while coarser grades may be more suitable for higher-solids feeds.
Can the SFH/-DC filter replace powdered activated carbon treatment?
In suitable applications, the integrated activated carbon media can simplify processes that would otherwise require separate powdered carbon dosing, mixing, carbon removal, and downstream filtration. However, adsorption capacity depends on the contaminant type, concentration, contact conditions, and required removal level, so process testing is recommended before replacing an existing carbon treatment step.
What operating limits should be considered for the SFH/-DC filter?
The listed maximum operating temperature is below 40°C, and the maximum differential pressure is 4.0 bar at 23°C. Actual operating conditions should also consider fluid viscosity, contaminant concentration, adsorption load, selected filter grade, flow rate, and batch conditions to maintain stable filtration and adsorption performance.
When should the activated carbon depth disc filter be replaced?
Replacement should be based on both filtration and adsorption performance rather than a fixed service interval. Typical indicators include increasing differential pressure, reduced flow rate, deterioration in filtrate clarity, reduced decolorization performance, or breakthrough of odor or target contaminants. Actual service life depends on solids loading, contaminant concentration, fluid composition, flow conditions, and required product quality.
