The LC-Series PES filter cartridge is renowned for its naturally hydrophilic, ultra-low pressure drop structure, making it an ideal choice for terminal filtration in micro-channel cold plates. Suitable for 0.1–0.45 μm fine filtration, it effectively captures particulates, corrosion products, and precipitates, significantly reducing the risk of clogging in 100–300 μm cold plate micro-channels. Its low extractables and high flow rate characteristics are perfectly suited for MLCP liquid cooling systems requiring high flow and high cleanliness.

Why is a hydrophilic PES membrane suitable for pharmaceutical and bioprocess filtration?
Hydrophilic PES membrane offers low protein adsorption, good wettability, low extractables, and reliable particle or microbial retention. These characteristics make PES filter cartridges suitable for pharmaceutical solutions, biological products, buffers, WFI-related processes, and other applications where product recovery, cleanliness, and consistent filtration performance are important.
How do I choose the right micron rating for a PES pleated filter cartridge?
The correct rating depends on the filtration objective, required retention level, upstream contamination load, flow requirement, and downstream process. Coarser grades are typically used for clarification or prefiltration, while finer grades such as 0.22 μm are selected for applications requiring tighter microbial retention. The final grade should be matched to actual process requirements rather than selected by pore size alone.
What is the difference between 0.1 μm, 0.22 μm, and 0.45 μm PES filter cartridges?
These ratings provide different levels of particle and microbial retention. A 0.45 μm PES cartridge is commonly used for fine clarification and prefiltration, while 0.22 μm is widely used where higher microbial retention is required. A 0.1 μm grade provides even finer filtration. Selection should also consider flow rate, differential pressure, and required process validation.
Can the PES pleated filter cartridge be steam sterilized?
For the FPS Series, the listed steam sterilization condition is 123°C for 30 minutes. Actual sterilization suitability depends on the cartridge configuration, support structure, seal material, sterilization cycle, and number of repeated exposures. The selected cartridge specification should therefore be confirmed against the actual sterilization procedure before use.
Is the PES membrane compatible with my process fluid?
Compatibility depends on the fluid composition, pH, chemical concentration, temperature, contact time, seal material, and cartridge construction. The listed pH range for the FPS/FCS Series is 1–14, but compatibility should still be verified for the specific chemical and operating conditions, especially when processing solvents, concentrated chemicals, or aggressive cleaning solutions.
When should a PES pleated filter cartridge be replaced?
Replacement should be based on validated process limits rather than a fixed service time. Common indicators include increasing differential pressure, reduced flow rate, longer filtration time, or failure to meet required filtrate quality. Cartridge life depends on contamination load, pore size, fluid properties, operating conditions, and any cleaning or sterilization cycles applied.
