What is the HFR Replacement High Flow Filter – Extreme Temp Series mainly used for?
The Extreme Temp Series is designed for demanding chemical and solvent filtration at elevated temperatures. Typical applications include aromatic solvents such as toluene and xylene, hydrogen peroxide, ethyl acetate, and other process chemicals where both temperature resistance and chemical compatibility are important.
Why is PBT used in this high-temperature solvent filtration cartridge?
PBT provides a combination of thermal stability, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance for demanding industrial filtration. In this series, both the filter media and cage use PBT construction, supporting operation at temperatures up to 120°C while maintaining stable filtration performance under suitable process conditions.
Can this cartridge be used with toluene, xylene, hydrogen peroxide, and ethyl acetate?
These fluids are listed among the intended applications for the Extreme Temp Series. However, final compatibility should still be confirmed according to chemical concentration, operating temperature, contact time, pressure, and the complete cartridge and sealing configuration before use in the actual process.
How do I choose the right micron rating for chemical and solvent filtration?
The correct micron rating depends on the contaminant size, required downstream cleanliness, solids loading, flow rate, allowable differential pressure, and filtration stage. Available ratings range from 1 to 100 μm, allowing the cartridge to be used for both general prefiltration and finer particle-removal duties in chemical and solvent systems.
What operating limits should be considered for the Extreme Temp Series?
The listed maximum operating temperature is 120°C, and the maximum differential pressure is 3.0 bar at 20°C. Because allowable pressure can change as temperature increases, pressure and temperature should be evaluated together rather than independently when defining the actual operating conditions.
Can this Extreme Temp cartridge replace my existing 3M HFR high flow filter?
It is designed as a replacement solution for 3M HFR-type high flow applications, but dimensional compatibility should still be verified before installation. Key factors include cartridge length, outer diameter, sealing interface, flow direction, and housing dimensions. The listed lengths are 20", 40", and 60", with outer diameters of approximately 158–164 mm.
