Challenges of Resource Recovery in Heavy Oil Extraction
In the petroleum industry, particularly within heavy oil thermal recovery, the efficient treatment and recycling of produced water is a significant operational hurdle. This water is characterized by extremely high temperatures, high salinity, and high hardness, making it one of the most challenging streams to process and reuse.
Conventional filtration cartridges face severe operational failures under these demanding conditions:
• Temperature Failure: Standard Polypropylene (PP) filter cartridges have a maximum operating temperature of only 60 °C. Exposure to higher temperatures causes them to deform, warp, and leak, compromising filtration integrity.
• Chemical Degradation: The presence of hydrocarbons, such as alkanes and benzene-ring compounds, in the produced water causes conventional PP materials to swell and degrade, leading to frequent downtime and maintenance issues.
Core Technology
The core innovation lies in its material science. Unlike standard filters, the HTR Series utilizes a novel Polyester (PBT) material for its core structure, membrane, filtration media, and support layers.
• Dramatically Elevated Temperature Resistance: The operating temperature ceiling was raised from 60°C to over 120°C. This ensures complete dimensional stability and reliability in the hottest produced water streams.
• Breakthrough Chemical Compatibility: The PBT construction offers superior resistance to alkanes and aromatic compounds (like benzene), perfectly eliminating the swelling and deformation problemassociated with conventional PP filters in these solvents.
